MT.MARGARET

Margaret - Kijabe Hill study area is situated 52kilometres northwest of Nairobi, and consists for the greater part of the Kedong valley floor, being bordered to the east by the eastern wall of the Gregory rift valley.Mount Margaret or 'Karima ka ihii' located on the floor of the rift valley in Mai mahiu, provides one of an epic hike that's no so far from Nairobi. This isolated landmass is believed to be the top that covered Mt Longonot before eruption in early 1800 and when Longonot erupted it threw the land mass to where the Mt Margaret is now. Quite interesting story from the locals. It's a 4hrs hike.
