Zanzibar is a self-governing province of Tanzania, comprising clusters of beautiful islands including major ones like Unguja Island and Pemba Island. The capital city, located on Unguja Island, features the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Stone Town.
Tourism is a key industry, capable of hosting 1.5 million visitors annually through five major ports and one international airport. Historically, Zanzibar's economy also thrived on spice production, earning it and Tanzania's Mafia Islands the nickname "Spice Islands." The fertile soil produces a variety of spices like cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, and black pepper.
Aquaculture and fish nurseries, along with raffia palms, contribute significantly to the economy. Raffia palms are valuable, with every part from leaves to fruits being utilized.
Zanzibar offers diverse accommodations ranging from simple homestays to boutique villas and luxury hotels, catering to various tourist preferences.
