Located along the Nairobi River from the former Globe Roundabout to Kipande Road, the John Michuki Memorial Park was established through private-public partnerships to provide a tranquil environment for friends and families to spend leisure time. The park was named after John Michuki who was a Minister for Environment to celebrate his contribution towards the restoration of the Nairobi River and the environment. The beautification process involved the removal of tonnes of garbage, landscaping and tree planting. The park now has floodlights, designated footpaths, footbridges and public toilets. No entrance fee is charged. The late Michuki who then vowed to reclaim the Nairobi River and make its water clean enough to be used by those who lived along the river embarked on a massive cleanup exercise that brought together 17 ministries among other stake stakeholders.
